In 2008 doctor Mentz was voted to the Best Doctor® database of experts. Best Doctors database is comprised of the "most respected doctors in each of the specialties of medicine". Best Doctors® has undertaken the largest, continuous, peer-to-peer survey of the medical profession ever conducted to develop their database. Selection is made by surveying medical professionals with questions like, "If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer them?" Needless to say it is an honor for Dr. Mentz to have been nominated by a national survey of his peers to the Best Doctors® list of experts. Voted one of Houston's Top Doc by H-Texas Magazine

Dr. Mentz has been consistently voted Houston's Top Doc and Top Doc for Women year after year since 2003 by H-Texas® Magazine (formerly Inside Houston® Magazine). This is a great honor as the selection process is a combination of votes from both medical professionals and the public. Only the top 1-2% of doctors receiving votes are awarded the Top Doc designation. Voting is done by both mailed ballots and online voting from the H-Texas® Magazine website: www.HTexas.com.

Every year TexasMonthly® publishes a list of Super Doctors™. Dr.Mentz has been a consistent nominee for Super Doctor™ since 2001. Key Professional Media performs the polling, research and selection for Super Doctors in a process designed to find the doctors with a "high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement". Consumers' Research Council of America names Dr. Mentz as one of
"America's Top Plastic Surgeons".

In 2008 Dr. Mentz was selected by the Consumers' Research Council of America as one of "America's Top Plastic Surgeons". Consumers' Research Council of America is an independent research company based in Washington, DC that evaluates professional services throughout America. It is their purpose to help educate and assist consumers in obtaining the finest professional services.

Plastic Surgeons were selected by a point value system that valued experience (years in practice), training (education and continuing education), professional associations (member of professional medical associations), & board certifications (completing an approved residency program and passing a rigid examination on that specialty). Consumers' Research Council of America prefers this point method over the survey method as it removes all emotion from the selection process. It is interesting to note Dr. Mentz achieves Top Plastic Surgeon designation from multiple organizations using both techniques.

Selected to appear in Beyond Black, an international luxury publisher that promotes leaders in their fields to the ultra high net worth individual.

Beyond Black is an international luxury publisher whose goal is to cross promote leading companies and brands to the high and ultra high net worth individuals. Dr. Mentz was chosen to be profiled in Beyond Black's Beyond Beauty; one of their series of publications dedicated profiling the most successful surgeons in the field of plastic surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, and cosmetic dentistry. Criteria for selecting participating physicians is based on "professional excellence, paradigm setting techniques, notoriety, personality..." Their advisory board consists of medical doctor and members of international professional associations. In 2009 Goldline Research announced that Dr. Mentz had been selected as a "leading Plastic Surgeon of the United States". Goldline Research's entire list of leading Plastic Surgeons was published in the Dec 28th issue of Forbes Magazine. There are more than six thousand plastic surgeons in the US and Dr. Mentz' practice was selected because it, "provides outstanding patient service that exceeds the industry standard," said Victoria Coryelle, analyst, Goldline Research. Dr. Mentz was proud to be recognized in Health and Fitness® Magazine as one of Houston's top physicians for Breast Surgery and Cosmetic/Reconstructive Surgery. The Doctors'Choice award was given to 273 of Houston's top physicians based on votes from their peers. Health & Fitness® Sports Magazine mailed letters to more than 2,800 Houston area physicians encouraging them to cast a ballot for the top doctors in Houston. "Thromboembolism in High Risk Aesthetic Surgery: Experience with 17 Patients in Review of 3871 Consecutive Cases", Published 2008

Dr. Mentz was recently awarded for his research that advances the understanding and safety of high risk surgery. Dr. Mentz, in conjunction with Dr. Newall, Dr. Patronella, and Dr. Ruiz, is one of the few private practices in the country that maintains a clinical research facility dedicated to producing accredited research. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation jointed awarded Dr. Mentz with "Best Journal Article" for his article "Thromboembolism in High Risk Aesthetic Surgery: Experience with 17 Patients in Review of 3871 Consecutive Cases" published 2008.
