Dr. Henry Mentz, a triple board-certified plastic surgeon, offers Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) facials with microneedling at his Houston MedSpa. PRP facials are a treatment made popular by Dr. Runels the creator of the Vampire Facelift. PRP facials use your blood’s own platelets to reverse signs of aging by giving youthful fullness to the face and improving the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Blood platelets are our body’s super hero cells because they contain growth factors and bioactive proteins that help to heal damages ligaments, tissue, tendons, muscle and bone. By concentrating the platelets and reinjecting the PRP into the skin after microneedling, the benefits of the PRP reach deeper into the skin for an improved appearance, including fewer lines and wrinkles.
"I had an amazing experience. Would do it again. - I was lucky to choose Dr. Mentz as my surgeon. I am 13 days out at this time so still early in the recovery process but I am very satisfied with my progress. I had the remainder of my sutures removed yesterday and am looking forward to the future with my new much improved face. Dr. Mentz and his "family" of caring staff are beyond what everyone should look for in a PS. I know I chose the best!! - - I was lucky to choose Dr. Mentz as my surgeon. "Dr. Mentz is the best of the best! His skill and artistry is second to none. He is by far, the most caring doctor I've met, with safety Top priority. His office staff is just as kind and professional. After losing a great deal of weight, I had a lot of extra and loose skin. Even with Bootcamp 5 days a week and spin class, I was disappointed and embarrassed with my body, especially naked. Dr. Mentz did my lower face and neck In January. I can't, nor can anyone else see where the incisions were and it looks just as if I've aged very well. A month ago, Dr. Mentz did extensive body work. It hasn't even all settled. I'm still swollen, but I'm beyond thrilled. My body is already so much improved and I look so much better! My incisions are straight and low on my lower body. The part where tape is off, I'm amazed at my healing already. My scarring is going to be unnoticeable. My breasts are now perfect. I got improvement, in places I wasn't even expecting, nor do I know how Dr. Mentz pulled it off. Needless to say, I'm over the moon! I can't wait until I'm released to exercise and hit the level of fitness I was going into surgery. In surgeon shopping, Dr. Mentz is pricey, but with him, you get what you pay for. He is worth every penny. You can't go wrong with him as your surgeon. Dr. Mentz delivers incredible results!"- J.G. / Google / Dec 28, 2016

The PRP injections and facial are performed by Dr. Mentz’s nurse injectors in his MedSpa located in the Galleria area of Houston. The treatment takes about 1-2 hours depending on the patient. By injecting a patient’s own concentrated blood platelets back into the face, they are getting an extra dose of these healing properties to combat the effects of aging on the skin and underlying tissue.
Most patients will experience mild bruising or swelling for 1-2 days following the procedure. Some patients may see some visible improvements, but the full results of the PRP facial will be seen 2-3 months after the treatment.

How Much Blood?@headingTag>
The PRP facial uses about 2 tablespoons of blood that is drawn before the procedure. The blood will be spun in a centrifuge for about 15 minutes to separate the blood components and concentrate the platelets.
Since the PRP facial uses the patient’s own blood, there are very rarely adverse effects from the treatments, but anyone who is undergoing treatment for cancer, blood disease, and other conditions may not be a candidate for the PRP facial. 1-2 weeks before the procedure, patients should avoid smoking and alcohol, as well as anti-inflammatory drugs like Aspirin.
For those who would like a more effective and long-term rejuvenating option, a facelift, brow lift, or eye lift will more dramatically improve appearance by smoothing skin and lifting sagging facial features to give the face a more refreshed and youthful appearance. The PRP facial or Vampire Facelift improves the condition of the skin, but does not remove excess skin.
