I’ve always been taught to be grateful, gracious, and appreciative for all that I have been given. I began our Foundation to help underprivileged children around the world. It is a long-term goal of mine to spread good health and education to those who are unfortunate and yet deserving.

Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Henry Mentz

Our History

Dr. Mentz and his nurse practitioner Heidi Fell, FNP, RN created the Mentz Foundation in 2009 as a 501c3 non-profit organization with the mission to provide medical supplies, food, clothing and other essential items to underserved communities throughout the world.

Through the Mentz Foundation, a portion of our profit goes to aid children locally, nationally, and internationally. One partner of the Mentz Foundation is Clinica Esperanza, a medical and dental clinic in Roatan, Honduras.

Dr. Mentz and many members of the ACPS staff travel to the Bay Islands of Honduras to provide medical and humanitarian support to the clinic, schools, and local communities.

In addition to Clinica Esperanza, the Mentz Foundation has organized and supported missions to Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, Vietnam, Bolivia, Kenya, and Houston.

Giving Back to the Houston Community

The Mentz Foundation has started focusing on serving the local Houston community. In the fall of 2012, Dr. Mentz’s office held a clothing drive for The Boys and Girls Harbor of Houston. Employees visited the children to present them with the clothes and a monetary donation from the Mentz Foundation.

Current Projects

During the month of October several nurses, Heidi Fell, FNP, RN and Dr. Mentz's patient coordinator AnaLisa, are going to be traveling to Roaton, Honduras accompanied by their husbands.

The Mentz Foundation is going to be expanding the school by building on a playground for the children to play on during recess. The group refreshed the school building with a fresh coat of paint on their last trip.

We are always looking for new ways to serve the underprivileged in our city and around the world. If you know of a community or organization in need, send your suggestions to [email protected].
