For those who have undergone a facelift and aren’t pleased with the results (or whose facelift is over ten years old), a revision facelift may be needed to refresh your results.
Recovery
The majority of revision facelift patients need approximately two weeks to recover. During this time, swelling, discomfort, and soreness is to be expected for several days, with swelling taking a bit longer to heal because of the scar tissue.
For some patients, Dr. Mentz recommends an overnight stay at his SurgiCentre where you can be easily cared for by a trained plastic surgery recovery nurse. Or, if you live within 20 miles of the SurgiCentre, a nurse who is trained in post-operative recovery can visit your home. The nurse will change any dressings, monitor your recovery, assist you with your medication, and provide the doctor with an update on your consultation. This is part of Dr. Mentz’s signature concierge surgical and recovery experience. Most sutures are removed 5 to 7 days after surgery. Peak swelling takes place within 24 to 48 hours, with moderate swelling may lasting for weeks. We recommend elevation of the head (even during sleep) to reduce swelling.
