Many individuals want to improve the appearance of their nose, but don’t want a surgery that looks overly Westernized. They want to keep the elements that are hallmarks of their heritage, but improve the overall appearance. Having training in Louisiana and Texas has allowed Dr. Mentz to gain experience in almost every ethnic group, and he prides himself in achieving patient-directed results.
Recovery
After the procedure, your nose will be wrapped with tape, bandages, and perhaps a splint. The initial recovery period from an ethnic rhinoplasty lasts about 7 to 10 days. After this, the majority of patients are able to return to work. During this time, most patients experience swelling, discomfort, bruising, nausea, and/or nasal congestion. Dr. Mentz can prescribe medications to help with these side effects during recovery.
In addition, you’ll need to recline and sleep with your head elevated for two weeks after the procedure. Exercise can usually be resumed after two weeks of recovery. While your results will look better and better each day, final results may take up to 18 months to become fully apparent.
