What causes a double chin?

Treatment time is about 10 to 20 minutes, and once complete, your chin will be dressed with a compression bandage. We typically recommend 2 to 4 treatments for the best results, but the exact amount of treatments you’ll need will be determined by how severe your double chin is.

Are there any side effects?

Are Kybella injections painful?

Pain tolerance varies from patient to patient, but most people who receive this treatment describe the Kybella injections as feeling like no more than a mild burning sensation. To reduce your discomfort, we will numb the area prior to the procedure with a local anesthetic.

Will Kybella tighten neck skin?

Kybella is designed and formulated to melt away excess fat under the chin and does not target skin tightening. However, if your facial skin is still firm and elastic, it will realign and contract on its own to shape itself to your new, tighter contour.

Can you see results after one Kybella Treatment?

In general, many patients see fantastic results after one treatment and need no more. However, every patient is different and some patients with thick submental fat tissue may need to have one or two additional Kybella treatments to achieve the full results. Depending on the fat deposit you began with, the lines you want to sculpt and the contoured look you are envisioning, it could take up to six treatments.

What should I avoid after my Kybella treatment?

Avoid strenuous exercise and sun exposure for 3-5 days after treatment. Also avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements, high-sodium or high-sugar foods and spicy foods for a couple of days after your treatment, as each of these may contribute to increased swelling or irritation.

Is Kybella permanent?

When Kybella is injected it destroys the fat cells, and these cells will not be able to collect or store fat once they’re destroyed. However, if the patient gains weight after a Kybella treatment, the remaining fat cells will expand, diminishing results.

Recovery

There is very minimal downtime with Kybella. The most recovery time you should require is two days, if that. Like any injectable treatment, you may notice some swelling, bruising, and/or itching at the injection sites, but these are temporary and will dissipate within a week or two. Some patients also experience burning or numbness. Some patients see the swelling and become concerned that their double chin is becoming even larger, but don’t worry. This is normal and part of the recovery process. Once the swelling has subsided, the fat cells are permanently gone.

Results

It’s important for those who are considering Kybella to understand that results can take anywhere between 2 to 4 treatments to achieve.

In general, results can be seen after 2 to 3 treatments. And once you’re happy with the results, there is no need to return for touch-ups, unlike dermal fillers.
