Breast that sag shapelessly on the chest can be equally deflating to a woman’s sense of confidence about her feminine beauty. Firm and perky breasts are a characteristic of a youthful figure, but over time, gravity, aging, weight fluctuation, and childbearing can all cause the breasts and nipples to droop and drift downward. While exercise and diet can tone and shape the body, no amount of toning can restore projection and firmness to breasts that have lost their structure and elasticity. In a breast lift procedure, triple board-certified Houston plastic surgeon, Dr. Henry Mentz removes excess skin to reshape and restore a firmer, uplifted contour to the breasts. Many patients choose to combine a breast lift with breast augmentation surgery to add fullness and further enhance the shapely appearance of the breasts.

Surgical Technique

Breast lift surgery is a 2-3 hour outpatient procedure that is performed while a patient is under general anesthesia. Dr. Mentz performs surgery at his private AAAASF-certified SurgiCentre facility in Houston, Texas, where patients are monitored and cared for by board certified physician anesthesiologists and Dr. Mentz’s highly skilled team of medical professionals. For women who who would like to add volume to their breasts, as well, a breast lift procedure may be combined with breast augmentation in a single procedure using an innovative technique which Dr. Mentz and his colleagues developed. With this technique, saline implants are placed within the breasts during a breast lift and inflated with saline approximately two weeks later in a quick office procedure. Staging the procedures in this way supports the proper healing of breasts, while allowing women to reduce the costs of having two separate surgeries.

If you live within 30 miles of our facility, Dr. Mentz will offer a visit to your home by a plastic surgery nurse who is trained to assist you with your recovery. The nurse will monitor your recovery, change any dressings, assist you with your medication, and provide Dr. Mentz with an update on your condition. Your breasts may be swollen and bruised for a few days, but Dr. Mentz will prescribe pain medication to relieve any discomfort. Most women can return to work in 1 week and resume strenuous exercise in about 1 month or when Dr. Mentz advises.

Breast Lift FAQs

Lasting Results?

Breast lift surgery has a very high satisfaction rate among patients who have undergone the procedure. While the results are typically long-lasting, gravity and aging will continue to effect the appearance of the breasts over time.

Aesthetic Goals?

As millions of satisfied breast lift patients have discovered, you don’t have to live with the disappointment of sagging, shapeless breasts. A breast lift, or mastopexy, can markedly rejuvenate your body’s contour by restoring youthful lift, projection, and firmness to the breasts.  While a lift alone may achieve your aesthetic goals, many women choose to combine a breast lift with breast augmentation in a single surgery to give their breasts the fuller, shapelier curves they desire. This rewarding procedure will restore the youthful beauty of your breasts and allow you to wear tops, swimsuits, and lingerie with greater confidence.

Best Candidates?

A breast lift firms and raises the breasts to give you a more youthful, attractive contour. Over time, a woman’s breasts lose their youthful shape and firmness due to factors such as gravity, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight fluctuations. A breast lift procedure may be a good option for you if you have one or more of the following conditions:

  • Your breasts sag and lack firmness
  • Your nipples and areolas point downward
  • Your breasts have lost shape and volume
  • Your breasts have developed a deflated, elongated, and/or flatter appearance
