"I am quite baffled by seeing any negative reviews on Dr. Mentz or his staff. And, being a long time patient of his, he would address any issues you had unless you are one of the rare exceptions that you simply can not please. Dr. has performed rhinoplasty on a very disconfigured nose from a wreck, midlift-which I am still amazed that it was back in 97 and people still ask if I have had my checks done, and blepharoplasty. Now more years than I can imagine, he will do my last and only facelift/neck lift. BTW-I am a baby when it comes to a general. I would not-to save a few bucks go anywhere else. He STILL sees me for follow ups and I will gladly speak to anyone on him, his wonderful staff, his associates and his work. Yes, he is busy. He gets in and out, but you-as the patient/client need to come prepared with every question and concern. I did and we re-did somethings I really wanted addressed. Besides, being an all around good guy, which is hard to find in this field, I trust him and stand behind his work. Best decision I made after a lifetime of bad ones!!"- A.S. / Vitals / Apr 19, 2016
Neck Lift Surgical Technique
In a neck lift procedure small incisions are commonly placed on the underside of the chin or around the earlobes. Following liposuction to remove any excess fatty deposits, Dr. Mentz tightens and suspends the underlying muscles, and he repositions the tissues. After trimming away excess skin, the skin is then redraped, lifted, and sutured into place. The length of surgery varies between 1-4 hours, depending on whether a neck lift is performed alone or in conjunction with liposuction and/or a facelift. Dr. Mentz performs the surgery at his private AAAASF-certified SurgiCentre in Houston, Texas.
Neck Lift Recovery
Recovery time for a neck lift varies depending on the number of procedures that are performed. If a neck lift is combined with facelift surgery, you will stay overnight in one our recovery suites where you will be cared for by one of our highly-trained registered nurses. As part of our exclusive “ACPS – The Spa & Rejuvenation Center” services, Dr. Mentz may recommend a home visit by a plastic surgery nurse who is trained to assist you with your recovery. The nurse will monitor your recovery, change any dressings, assist you with your medication, and provide Dr. Mentz with an update on your condition. Stitches are removed in about a week, and most bruising fades in two weeks. Most patients can return to work in one week and resume exercise in 4-6 weeks, depending on the doctor’s recommendations.
Multiple procedures will reduce the costs for anesthesia and facility time. Please be aware that the prices listed below are for an estimate of fees only and that you will need a consultation to confirm any pricing.

Neck Lift FAQs
Neck Lift Benefits?
- Restore a smooth, youthful contour to the neck
- Correct the appearance of a double chin
- Eliminate loose skin under the chin which leads to the appearance of a “turkey gobbler neck”
- Diminish sagging and neck creases
- Reduce fatty deposits to create a leaner, chiseled angle between the neck and jawline
If your skin is relatively smooth and firm, but you have an accumulation of excess fatty deposits beneath your chin and /or along your jawline, liposuction may be all that is needed to restore a smooth, defined contour to this area. In this procedure, Dr. Mentz uses a thin hollow cannula tube to suction out fat through small incisions made on the underside of the chin or in the crease around the earlobe. Removal of this excess fat diminishes the appearance of a double chin and restores a firmer, chiseled angle to the neck and jawline.
A neck lift restores a firmer, youthful contour to the neck. A loss of skin elasticity, and a weakening of the neck muscles causes the neck to sag and develop creases. Dr. Mentz restores a smooth and younger appearance to the neck by removing sagging skin and tightening the underlying muscles for longer lasting results. In some cases, he may also recommend liposuction to reduce excess fatty deposits.
Like the face, the neck is one of the first areas of the body to show the most visible effects of aging due to sun exposure and laxity of the skin and its underlying muscles. Over time, the neck begins to sag and develop creases, and excess fat often accumulates in this area, as well. In a neck lift procedure, the muscles of the neck are tightened, tissues are repositioned, and excess skin and fat are removed to restore a youthful, well-defined contour to the neck and and jawline.
