Dysport is a cosmetic injectable that greatly reduce the appearance of creases between the brows, on the forehead and around the eyes and mouth. Dysport can also be used to decrease excessive sweating in the armpits and palms, a condition known as hyperhidrosis. The purified protein products in injectable wrinkle relaxers, like Dysport, work by inhibiting the muscle movement that leads to wrinkles. Small injections of Dysport into these muscles temporarily diminishes movement. At his Houston MedSpa, triple board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Henry Mentz supervises the use of Dysport, BOTOX, and wrinkle fillers by his licensed nurse injectors to help every patient gets a natural, youthful results.

Procedure Technique

Dysport is packaged as a 300-unit vial for a single, sterile use. Generally, Dysport is injected into 5 different facial muscles with about 50 units in each muscle. Most Dysport treatments take about 10-20 minutes in Dr. Mentz’s office after an initial consultation. Dysport results are temporary, with results lasting for approximately 3-4 months in most facial areas, and 2-3 months around the mouth.

Dysport FAQs

Seeing Results?

Most patients will begin to see an improvement in their dynamic wrinkles about 2-3 days after their Dysport treatment. Results usually last for about 4 months, so patients are encouraged to schedule treatments about 3-4 months apart to maintain their results.

Dysport Vs. BOTOX?

Dysport and BOTOX are both injectable wrinkle relaxers made with botulinum toxin type A for temporary relief from dynamic wrinkles. The main difference between Dysport and BOTOX is that the results of Dysport usually appear about 1-2 days before the results of BOTOX. For patients who have become resistant to BOTOX treatments or who are beginning to see diminished results, switching to Dysport may help restore their initial results.

Allergies and Conditions?

Dysport should not be used by anyone who has an allergy to cow’s milk or any of the ingredients in Dysport. During the consultation, patients should disclose their full medical history, including any conditions, current medications, and allergies to help determine if Dysport is safe for them and their best choice.

Side Effects?

While most patients will tolerate Dysport treatments without any problems, some of the most common side effects include irritation at the injection site, headache, swelling, inflammation, and nausea. Patients should contact our office immediately if they are concerned about any side effects after their treatment.
